What about tax?

A quick guide — not tax advice. Check with HMRC or an accountant for your situation.

First £1,000 a year is tax-free

The UK Trading Allowance covers your first £1,000 of sharing income each year. Stay under it and there's usually nothing to file.

Above that, you declare it

Earn more and you'd report it through Self Assessment. Most hosts aren't VAT-registered. Your tax is between you and HMRC.

General info, not tax advice — Splash's liability is set out in our Terms. Always check with an accountant for your circumstances.
